The Gunbarrel Highwaymen
Owen Blundell: Since his debut in the mid-eighties, one might think that not a lot has changed about country’s coolest crooning cat. However, with his seventh album released, he has a huge list of accomplishments behind him. Five times finalist as Male Vocalist, Australian Country Music Awards, Album of the Year; and APRA’s Most Played Country Song. Since commencing his career in the Snowy Mountains, Blundell has managed to take a grip on his own direction and remain true to his authentic country roots, yet appeals to a wider and alternative audience in the cities. In doing so, he’s one of the first and few artists who’ve poured country flavour into an urban recipe without ever changing the ingredients.
Terry Gordon: Was honoured with the coveted award of Queensland Country Music Entertainer of the Year, not only as a tribute to his touring and recording success, but also as a mark of respect for his thirty continuous years as a multi-talented performer. Since beginning his distinguished recording career, he has released 25 singles and 15 albums. Terry Gordon’s remarkable versatility as a balladeer, songwriter, comedy performer and television host, has seen him criss-cross the length and breadth of Australia working alongside such legends as Slim Dusty, Tex Morton, Willie Nelson and George Jones.
Reg Poole: Regarded as a gentleman by his peers, fans and friends, Reg continues to carry on the wonderful tradition of pioneer bush balladeers in Australia and overseas. Reg has released 17 albums and subsequently walked away with armfuls of awards, including five Golden Guitars and a host of nominations and credits. He won the Golden Guitar for Best New Talent in 1974, and demonstrated his career longevity by winning successive Guitars at regular intervals throughout the next two decades.
